Who we are

We are a diverse, non-partisan network of Canadians from the business, academic, and charitable sectors with a shared belief that, with the right approach to growth, we can enhance our economic strength and resilience at home, and our influence abroad. As a registered charity, our vision is a Canada that thinks and plans not just for today, but for future generations. Because prosperity takes planning.

Our mission

We advocate for policies and programs that would increase Canada’s population to 100 million by 2100.  We lead, enable and support long-term thinking and planning required to manage this growth well and ensure a high quality of life and standard of living for all.

Our principles are:

pluralism

shared prosperity

environmental sustainability

collaboration

What we do
Advocate: Open notebook with a pen in an auditorium with people

Advocate for a big and bold vision for Canada – and the policies and priorities that will create the conditions for Canada to thrive and grow well into the future.

Educate: Two overlapping reports from Century Initiative

Educate Canadians about the importance of smart population growth, and about the need to ensure the benefits of growth are widely shared.

Partner: Two hands shaking

Partner with researchers and practitioners to fill the relevant policy and program gaps, and to inform decision-making.

Convene stakeholders from across sectors to generate knowledge, inform policy, and raise awareness of our vision and mission for Canada.

Why 100 million?

The world is changing at a rapid pace, and Canada is falling behind. Our population is aging, we’re having fewer children, and our workforce is shrinking. If we stay the course, Canada’s annual GDP growth will decline, along with our influence on the world stage.

Growing our population to 100 million by 2100 would reduce the burden on government revenues to fund health care, old age security, and other services. It would also mean more skilled workers, innovation, and dynamism in the Canadian economy. 100 million by 2100 is not just a number. It’s a vision for the Canada we want to build for future generations.
