Amal Soliman
Gina El Kattan
Amal Soliman and Gina El Kattan | Co-Founders, Nuba Tisane
Mother-daughter duo Amal Soliman and Gina El Kattan are the proud founders of Nuba Tisane, a ready-to-drink hibiscus tea start-up. Based in Oakville, Ontario, the company is rapidly expanding across Canada.

The pair arrived in Canada from Egypt with the rest of their immediate family in 2011, choosing Canada for its strong education system. Hibiscus tea was an ever-present drink in the family’s kitchen in Egypt. Upon arriving in Canada, it became a welcome drink for new neighbours in their community as the family began to build their roots here. After seeing it was a hit, the pair turned their drinks into a business.

Gina and Amal are strong advocates for the role immigrants and their families play in building Canada’s economy. Their entrepreneurial spirit was sparked, in part,  by the challenges they faced finding employment as newcomers in Canada. Now, their business has become a way to support other newcomers, especially women and students, by offering employment opportunities. They also directly support farmers in Egypt, where they source the hibiscus for their products.
