CEO of the Conference Board of Canada
Susan Black joined the Conference Board of Canada in 2018 as its CEO with a mandate to elevate and advance Canada’s leading applied research organization. Under her leadership CBoC focuses on researching the wicked problems Canada’s leaders face in areas such as the economy, education and immigration. She is committed to delivering CBoC’s research insights to Canadians in ways that are accessible and plain spoken.
Susan’s career experiences span sectors and industries. She brought Catalyst to Canada in 2000 and as President grew it into the nation’s leading research organization championing women in the workplace. During her tenure as CHRO at Intact Financial and at Holt Renfrew she was a relentless champion of progressive talent practices, inclusive environments, and stronger employee engagement. Currently, Susan sits on the Board of Directors at Gore Mutual Insurance Company. She holds a BA from Yale, an MBA from Harvard and a PhD from York University.
