Director of Policy & Research at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
As Senior Director, Policy & Government Relations at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), Daniel leads strategic policy development, research initiatives and government relations in support of FCM’s advocacy at the national level on infrastructure, transit and mobility, housing and homelessness, climate and the environment, broadband access, and other priorities of Canada's local government sector. Daniel has played a key role in shaping the design of FCM’s policy approach to infrastructure finance, program design and implementation during a period of significant growth in federal investments in transit and other local infrastructure, and leads FCM’s efforts to secure major investments in housing and homelessness through the Rapid Housing Initiative and other programs to end homelessness and improve access to affordable housing for Canadians. Prior to joining FCM in 2012, Daniel worked for the Parliament of Canada as a legislative assistant to Members of Parliament with a focus on Indigenous and Northern Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations from the University of Toronto and a Masters in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
