Doing Immigration Differently

Century Initiative is proud to have participated in the 21st National Metropolis Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the largest annual gathering of researchers, policy makers, and representatives from community and settlement organizations working in the field of immigration and settlement in Canada.

Century Initiative joined the Conference Board of Canada and the New Brunswick Multicultural Council in leading a workshop Immigration Imperatives: Benefits and Challenges.

Immigration Imperatives

The workshop provided an overview of Canada’s long-term demographic, economic, and fiscal outlook and policy insights on the number of newcomers Canada will need moving forward.

The workshop also covered:

  1. Practical implications on how Canada can increase its newcomer intake sustainably.
  2. Regional disparities and initiatives for improved integration and inclusion.
  3. How Canada can maintain public support for immigration.
